Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals Grantees and Spring Events

Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals Grantees and Spring Events
Spring has arrived and the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals has sprung into action awarding some very special friends grants that totaled over $25,000 to help their animal rescue and rehabilitation work from New Jersey to Florida. The 2014 grantees included All Critters Rescue from Spotswood, NJ, New Life Boxer Rescue from Kenilworth, NJ, American Rescue Dog Corporation from Howell, NJ, Cat Assistance Network from Allenhurst, NJ, All Fur Love Animal Rescue from Freehold, NJ, and Ayla’s Acres from Saint Augustine, Fl. Grants are used for day-to-day operations, emergency relief, spay/neuter efforts, veterinary care, equipment, construction, vehicle purchases, educational programs and special projects.
“We are truly fortunate and honored to partner with the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals.  Most fortunate are the 225 animals that have found their forever homes and the many more animals that will find their forever homes as a result of this grant,” said Steve Charnick, Co-Founder, All Fur Love Rescue. “As an all-volunteer, no-kill organization, our expenses for food, supplies, and veterinary care are tens of thousands of dollars each year. Without the generosity of private donors and grants like this one, we would be unable to continue our lifesaving work.”
As a New Jersey based organization, we are committed to helping our local heroes in animal welfare by supporting statewide organizations. Organizations like our recent grantees are run by dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly, day in and out, to rescue animals in need, provide veterinary care, spay/neuter/re-home animals, and provide humane education. Additionally, we are committed to helping charities outside of New Jersey that demonstrate the same commitment to serve their communities and help animals in need of love and rescue. Our work and hearts are blind to geography.
New to the Foundation this grant cycle, we are thrilled to support the work of Ayla’s Acres, a 45-acre sanctuary, with 24-hour around the clock care, located in Greenville, Florida. The sanctuary is a place where “unadoptable” domestic and farm animal, generally those who have been abused and abandoned, may live out the rest of their lives with love, dignity, and security.
In Northeast and North Central Florida, more than 30,000 animals are euthanized every year. Shelters and animal control facilities are over-crowded with homeless, abandoned and abused animals. And the task of remedying these concerns seems daunting at best. Ayla’s Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue is tackling the problem one animal at a time.
Since 2010, the Foundation has awarded over $150,000 as well as in-kind donations of pet supplies and food to non-profit, no-kill animal and marine mammal rescue and welfare organizations.
Funds for the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals’ grantmaking efforts are raised through special events organized for all ages, people and pets. Events include a canine run/walk, summer party and collection drives. See a list of upcoming events for people and pets here.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees meets monthly and grants are reviewed on an on-going basis. Grantees are selected after careful review of applications and are distributed in February. For organizations interested in applying for a grant, visit the website for guidelines and an application.
