Creative Grooming with Jenn Dios
Creative Grooming is a form of creative expression in which the animal is the canvas. For some groomers it’s a touch of elegance. For others, it’s a drastic transformation. It may involve bright and bold colors, softer pastels, or even no color at all.
This Halloween let Purr’n Pooch transform your pup into any any one of a dozen of exciting characters from a football fan sporting the logo of his or her favorite sports team to a cute, cuddly panda bear. Let’s have fun and be creative!
Dying a pet is very similar to leaving in a conditioner. Jenn Dios, Purr’n Pooch’s Creative Grooming Spa Professional, washes your pet with a good quality shampoo, rinses, then adds dye to the desired area where it sets for 15 minutes then is rinsed. Jenn only recommends using dye on a pet that has not had any skin issues and is not sensitive to skin allergies. On a dog or cat, 12 weeks or older, with a healthy skin and coat it should not cause any irritation. Coloring results may vary with your dog’s coat type and breed. A consultation visit is requested prior to your pet’s creative grooming appointment to ensure that your pet has a healthy coat and his or her skin is in good health.
As beautiful as the grooms may be, the animal’s comfort should never be sacrificed for the sake of a groom. It is also important to note that creative grooming is only to be performed by professional groomers, knowledgeable in both basic grooming and creative grooming techniques. While the animals are not harmed during these grooms, there are many different factors that must be understood and taken into account. For this reason, pet owners should not attempt to achieve a creative groom on their own. If you are interested in having something extra done for your pet, talk to your groomer about what options are available for you and your pet.
